Tomoo Gokita was born in Tokyo in 1969 and currently lives and works there. He attracted attention in the late 1990s for his pencil, charcoal, and ink drawings on paper, and published the collection "Lingerie Wrestling" in 2000. Beginning with an exhibition in New York, he has since held numerous solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. In 2012, he participated in the exhibition "Abstraction and Form: The Unrevealed" held at the Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art, and in 2014 held his solo exhibition "THE GREAT CIRCUS" at the same museum. Recent solo exhibitions include "PEEKABOO" at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery (2018) and "Get Down" at Dallas Contemporary (2021). He has published collections of works and exhibition catalogs such as "Shuffle Railroad Song" published by Tennen Bunko (2010), "777" published by 888 Books (2015), "Holy Cow" published by Taka Ishii Gallery (2017), "PEEKABOO" published by Tokyo Opera City Cultural Foundation (2018), and "MOO" published by Taka Ishii Gallery (2021).
